The Customer: Federal Aviation Administration
Karsun Solutions provides technical services in support of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Information Technology (FAA AIT) under the FAA SSD contract.
The Challenge
The FAA needed to replace a complex IBM business process management (BPM) commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product. The customer’s goal was to reduce costs by four million dollars a year while improving performance and scalability.
Building a Modern Web Application Framework
We proposed a solution utilizing modern web application framework. This implementation combines an AngularJS and NodeJS based presentation layer with a Java Spring based services layer. This solution was deployed in FAA AWS Cloud Service platform (FCS) utilizing DevOps tools. The proposed logical architecture was as follows:

The Result
Karsun developed a customized application based on modern software development platform using Agile and DevSecOps methodology, open source tools, user-centered design approach. As shown in the above diagram, this application was successfully deployed to production on FAA’s AWS FCS.
