Karsun Solutions Sponsors Hackathon at the University of Oklahoma

Hacklahoma Hackathon Oklahoma UniversityOKLAHOMA CITY, OK- Karsun Solutions LLC, an IT enterprise modernization firm for the US Federal government, announced its sponsorship of Hacklahoma at the University of Oklahoma February 9th and 10th. A 24-hour hackathon, Hacklahoma brings together 200 plus students in an “invention marathon.” Comprised of teams of up to 4 people, students are invited to learn, build and share creations while connecting with sponsoring organizations. Innovation at Its Core

The company’s participation in Hacklahoma is part of its continued commitment to support the next generation of IT innovators.  In addition to Hackathons, Karsun Solutions welcomes a yearly summer intern class. Last Fall Jason Marceau, a Director at Karsun Solutions, shared his tips with students participating in internships and summer programs.

Innovation and continuous learning is a core component of Karsun Solutions culture. The Karsun Innovation Center (KIC) is an in-house research and development unit which supports professional development initiatives for the organization’s employees. Karsun Academy, a group within the Innovation Center, guides team members as they earn industry certifications, expand their skillsets and receive training from partner organizations. The Academy recently launched its government shutdown training series. Employees are also invited to participate in KIC challenge teams, solving real-life customer problems, then returning to their teams as embedded experts.

Growing Oklahoma City Presence

Actively hiring developers, architects and analysts, Karsun Solutions’ presence in Oklahoma grew alongside its FAA program. In August 2017, the company was awarded the $145 million FAA SSD contract. Under this five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract the organization provides technical services in support of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Information Technology (FAA AIT). These support services assist in the implementation of enterprise-wide software application and database development. By August of 2018, the Karsun Solutions FAA team expanded to over 150 people, many of whom are located in Oklahoma City.
