Many government agencies and enterprise organizations face challenges modernizing outdated legacy mainframe systems to contemporary cloud computing environments. Karsun Solutions partnered with one agency to migrate and rearchitect their legacy mainframe platform to a modern, cloud-native environment. Mainframe computers, while supporting mission-critical applications across various sectors, have become costly burdens due to their reliance on outdated software written in languages such as COBOL. These systems are difficult to maintain, update, and augment with new capabilities.
AI-Powered Modernization from Start to Finish
To address the mainframe migration challenge faced by this Karsun’s government customer and other agencies, Karsun built a modernization platform called ReDuX. This platform uses generative AI powered by Amazon Bedrock to expedite the migration and modernization of mainframe applications. Using the AI tools available in ReDuX, Karsun team assess and map systems, create requirements, generate modern production ready code, and build resources for modernization at scale.

Karsun’s ReDuX has enabled AI-assisted projects that are four times faster, require 50% fewer resources, and have 22.5% higher productivity than those completed by human teams alone. Additionally, code quality and error rates were improved with ReDuX, as shown by quality control testing.
