With data creation growing at 40% a year (IDC) the ability to ingest, store, process, and develop meaningful insights in a rapid manner becomes critical. According to Bernard Marr, “estimates suggest that by better integrating big data, healthcare could save as much as $300 billion a year — that’s equal to reducing costs by $1000 a year for every man, woman, and child.” No longer is it viable to wait days, weeks, or months for analysis and insights from healthcare data. This is especially true when trying to achieve FDA’s mission of “protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.”
Given this opportunity, Shaunak Ashtaputre and Jason Marceau from Karsun will present the innovative capability “Speed to Insight” at the FDA’s Innovation Day on June 27th, 2017. “Speed to Insight” is delivered by Analytics as a Service and powered by Hortonworks. This innovative capability will allow the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or any healthcare organization, the ability ingest numerous big data sources, prepare, transform, and develop descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive insights rapidly while removing the demand for IT, expensive software, all while being highly secure.
